On Monday October 1st I received an email from ChemoAngels telling me that they assigned me another patient since my last patient, a young lady from Virginia, graduated from the program. Now they assigned me to a woman in California. My assignments seem to always be either on the east coast or the west coast or down south. I'm still hoping to be assigned a child patient some day but I'm fine with the older ones. My youngest patient was 17 and my oldest patient was 54. I introduced myself in a letter to my new patient telling her who I was, how old I am, where I live, that I'm going to college, my marital status, that I have no children, my hobbies and interests, and that I have a cat whom I love and adore dearly. I love being a ChemoAngel. I'm a CardAngel currently. That means I send at least one card or letter a week and maybe a small gift on birthdays and Christmas, if they celebrate it.
I also love being a SeniorAngel as well. I'm a SeniorAngel to a senior lady in New York State. I used to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a nursing home and I saw that some of the residents never got visitors or mail and I wished that there was a program like SeniorAngels back then that I could sign them up for with their knowledge of course.
I enjoy writing to these two special ladies, my patient and my senior, since writing is a hobby of mine. I have their letters ready to go in the mailbox tomorrow and I can't wait to write more letters soon.
